What Does The Movie “What The Bleep Do We Know” Mean? | Teaching of Candice Pert | Joe Dispenza | Amit Goswami

What Does The Movie “What The Bleep Do We Know” Mean?

Let me tell you a little secret. Oh as secrets go this is a great one you’ll ask yourself, “WHAT THE BLEEP DO I KNOW?”

I know in 1995 I took the Hippocratic Oath I have taken very joyously, seriously, and with an overwhelming desire to find the words to embody the anguish, delight, and activations in my near death experiences. I had studied botany, religious studies, and organic chemistry after learning the fundamentals of physics before entering medical school.

It is no secret that I graduated medical school. I wore the white coat. I wrote prescriptions. I worked in clinics that smelled faintly of bleach and hope, and then in non-government agencies where the bleach budget was smaller and the hope had to stretch further. I saw every kind of medicine you can imagine — allopathic drugs, acupuncture needles the perfect length to open your Chi, Ayurvedic herbs that tasted like reset. Traditional Chinese pulse diagnosis that could apparently tell you your grandmother’s mood in 1973. And somewhere in the middle of all that, I watched people heal in ways the textbooks said were impossible. Tumors shrank when someone finally forgave their mother. Chronic pain vanished the week a woman left the husband who called her girl feelings “stupid” for twenty-three years. I started to think the most powerful pharmacy on earth might be the one between our ears.

Then I saw “What the Bleep Do We Know!?” in a half-empty theater in Los Angeles, eating popcorn that I added chocolate to help butter or better the corn, and I had what Oprah likes to call a full-body “aha.” Turns out quantum physics is even weirder — and more romantic — than falling in love on the third date with someone who quotes Rumi in a NY taxi.

Here, in one charmingly chaotic sitting, was a movie telling me that reality isn’t nearly as solid as my attending physicians pretended it was. That particles only decide to exist when somebody looks at them. That thoughts might literally restructure water. And that I — yes, me, the girl who once cried because she mixed up the Krebs cycle — could possibly choose which version of my life shows up tomorrow.

I left the theater a little dizzy, a lot in love with the universe, and absolutely certain I’d found the missing link between the MRI machine and the miracle.

The film’s big, delicious ideas (served with jelly-baby animation and a Polish wedding polka that still makes me grin):

  1. Reality isn’t fixed until it’s observed. “Quantum physics calculates only possibilities… Who/what chooses among these possibilities to bring the actual event of experience? Consciousness must be involved. The observer cannot be ignored.” — Amit Goswami, Ph.D.
  2. Your brain doesn’t always know the difference between what’s happening and what you’re vividly remembering (or imagining). “Your mind can’t tell the difference between what it sees and what it remembers.” — Joe Dispenza, D.C.
  3. We filter reality through what we already believe is possible. “We only see what we believe is possible.” — Candice Pert, Ph.D. (She also told the story of Native Americans who literally couldn’t see Columbus’s ships anchored offshore because giant boats without paddles were outside their belief system. I think about that every time I can’t find my keys that are literally in my hand.)
  4. Thoughts and emotions aren’t just “in your head” — they’re chemicals, they’re frequencies, they’re information that literally reshapes the molecules of your body. Candice Pert discovered the opiate receptor, which means she basically discovered that your body is a giant pharmacy run by your feelings. She said: “The chemicals that are running our body and our brain are the same chemicals that are involved in emotion.” And later: “The body is the outward manifestation of the mind.”

Joe Dispenza took that baton and sprinted into the end zone:

“We’re capable of creating a new expression of ourselves in every moment… Your personality creates your personal reality.”

And Amit Goswami, bless his physicist heart, just looked straight into the camera and declared:

“The material world is a world of possibilities, and consciousness chooses.”

Even the water was listening. Masaru Emoto’s frozen crystals (exposed to words like “love” or “you fool”) formed either snowflakes a jeweler would envy or something that looked like a hangover on ice. The caption that still echoes in my head:

“If thoughts can do that to water, imagine what our thoughts can do to us.”

So here I am — former conventional doctor turned full-time energy medicine devotee — telling you that every healing tradition I’ve ever touched works. Sometimes the pill works. Sometimes the needle works. Sometimes the prayer works. Sometimes the unforgiveness you finally release works better than all three combined.

Because at the quantum level, they’re all doing the same thing: they’re shifting information. They’re changing the field. They’re helping consciousness choose a different possibility.

And you, darling — yes, you, reading this while your toes notice your pose — you are the observer. You are the chooser. You are the one the particles have been waiting for.

If you’re ready to stop accidentally creating the same slightly exhausting day on repeat and start intentionally creating the one that makes your soul do the Polish wedding polka, come find me.

Let’s turn your “What the bleep is happening to my life?” into “Oh my God, look what I just made happen.”

With love, quantum physics, and a side of irreverence.
Keep reading, you are getting to the heart of the secret.

When a movie gets rave reviews as a mind-blowing flick about quantum physics, it’s worth checking out.

And if you’re a modern thinker you’ll know for a fact that quantum physics is wacky stuff.

So enjoy the film’s Gabor sister channeling a warrior spirit from Atlantis.
Will you imagine yourself doing the wedding Polka dance — there’s just not enough Eastern European folk culture in contemporary film.

What the Bleep Do We Know draws heavily on the role of the observer in quantum physics.

Is the secret becoming more clear to you?

“Our brain receives 400 billion bits/second of information, but we’re only aware of 2000 bits/second. Reality is happening in our brain all the time — we’re receiving it but it’s not being integrated.” Andrew B Newberg, (MD, Radiologist), in What the Bleep Do We Know?

Yes, the idea that you are only ‘aware’ of a fraction of your brain’s activity is both correct and a huge relief.

What could be worse than being aware of every tiny detail that your brain handles — from phosphate levels to heart rate and hair growth. It’d be like being the CEO of a massive company and having to listen to what every single employee was doing every minute of every day. Staff meetings are tedious enough — give me a conscious mind with a decent filter device any day.

Your subconscious brain is doing really interesting stuff and are you missing out? If only you could be an even better master of your destiny by becoming aligned.

“We only see what we believe is possible — Native American Indians on Caribbean Islands couldn’t see Columbus’s ships [sitting on the horizon] because they were beyond their knowledge”
Dr. Candace Pert,   in What the Bleep Do We Know?

About us not seeing things in front of our eyes if we’re not looking for them. A classic experiment on visual processing involves asking people to watch a video of 6 people passing a basketball, and press a button every time a particular team has possession. Invariably only about half the people tested ever notice a woman in a gorilla suit walking across the middle of the screen during the game.

 About Your Mind Affecting Reality:

‘I’m taking this time to create my day and I’m infecting the quantum field. Now if (it) is in fact the observer’s watching me the whole time that I’m doing this and there is a spiritual aspect to myself, then show me a sign today that you paid attention to any one of these things that I created, and bring them in a way that I won’t expect, so I’m as surprised at my ability to be able to experience these things. And make it so that I have no doubt that it’s come from you,’ and so I live my life, in a sense, all day long thinking about being a genius or thinking about being the glory and the power of God or thinking about being unconditional love. ~Joe Dispenza

The movie gives at least  two examples of experiments which have shown the power of the mind-affecting reality.

The Effect of Meditation on Violent Crime in Washington, DC.

John Hagelin, Ph.D., describes a study he did in Washington in 1992. 4000 volunteers regularly meditated to achieve a 25% drop in violent crime by the end of summer. He claims the drop was achieved.  Hagelin won the 1994 Ig Nobel Peace Prize.

The power of thoughts on water

“If thoughts can do that to water, imagine what our thoughts can do to us” observed a fan of Dr. Masaru Emoto in the movie.

Dr. Emoto takes photos of crystals formed in freezing water. According to his books, water exposed to loving words shows brilliant and attractive patterns, while water exposed to negative thoughts forms incomplete patterns.

What to do if you have been diagnosed with Cancer?

What to do if you have been diagnosed with Cancer?

I am so sorry you are going through this! I want you to have the best resources for your health!

  1. If I had cancer, I would watch these three videos first!
  2. Stop eating Sugar.
  3. Connect your Mind, Body, & Spirit with something greater than yourself.

My Beloved Mother-in-Law, Renee had cancer.

We lost her and all the love she had for our kids and us.  She lost all of this amazing time on Earth!
She was one of the most thoughtful people in the world and worked her whole life.

She didn’t get to enjoy her retirement or watch her grandkids grow old.

She loved her grandkids!

I think about her everytime a client shares about a cancer diagnosis!

I feel her help, every time a client and I are working on changing lifestyle to allow God healing Cancer.

I feel full by her Grace, God’s Grace and each person’s faith in God!

I love you and you will get through this!

You have to get through this because what you offer is incredible!

Your Cancer diagnosis is waking you up!

Get through this challenge is to think: “What is the next right move!”

1. Watch these videos

Lissa Rankin, MD is an OB/GYN physician, author, keynote speaker, consultant to health care visionaries, professional artist, and founder of the women’s health and wellness community OwningPink.com. Discouraged by the broken, patriarchal health care system, she left her medical practice in 2007 only to realize that you can quit your job, but you can’t quit your calling. This epiphany launched her on a journey of discovery that led her to become a leader in the field of mind/body medicine, which she blogs about at OwningPink.com and is writing about in her third book Mind Over Medicine: Scientific Proof You Can Heal Yourself (Hay House, 2013).

She teaches both patients and health care professionals how to make the body ripe for miracles by healing the mind and being healthy in all aspects of life, not just by promoting healthy behaviors like good nutrition, exercise, and adequate sleep, but by encouraging health and authenticity in relationships, work, creative expression, spirituality, sexuality, finances, and living environment. She is leading a revolution to feminize how health care is received and delivered by encouraging collaboration, fostering self-healing, reconnecting health care and spirituality, empowering patients to tap into the mind’s power to heal the body, and encouraging women not to settle for being merely well, but to strive for living vital, joyful, authentic lives full of “mojo.”

When not spreading the word, she chills out, paints, does yoga, and hikes in Marin County, CA with her husband and daughter.

Just like our healthy cells, malignant cancer cells need energy to survive. Dr. Sophia Lunt explains how she intends to cut off cancer cells’ survival potential, and pioneer a new way of halting their growth.

Dr. Sophia Lunt began her training in metabolism at Princeton University, where she received her Ph.D. studying the metabolic consequences of the antibiotic drug trimethoprim. As a postdoctoral fellow at MIT, she focused on cancer metabolism, and was awarded the CDMRP PRCRP Visionary Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Department of Defense to support her research. She currently runs a research lab focused on cancer metabolism at Michigan State University.

We’ll go to the doctor when we feel flu-ish or a nagging pain. So why don’t we see a health professional when we feel emotional pain: guilt, loss, loneliness? Too many of us deal with common psychological-health issues on our own, says Guy Winch. But we don’t have to. He makes a compelling case to practice emotional hygiene — taking care of our emotions, our minds, with the same diligence we take care of our bodies.

2. Stop eating Sugar and Carbohydrates. Learn and get into Ketogenesis

In short: don’t eat a pro-inflammatory, modern high carb diet. Mother nature has got your back if you respect her.

The Vegan ketogenic diet is one of the most restrictive diets, but it is possible to pull it off while maintaining your sanity, decreasing animal suffering, and improving your health.

To implement the diet correctly, you must follow these rules:

  • Limit your total carbohydrate consumption to 35 grams or less per day.
  • Eliminate all meat, fish, and other animal products from your diet.
  • Eat plenty of low-carb vegetables.
  • Get at least 70% of your calories from plant-based fats.
  • Consume around 25% of your calories from plant-based proteins.
  • Supplement with nutrients that you may not be getting enough of like vitamins D3, B12, & B6, DHA & EPA, iron, zinc, and taurine.

Not a fan of math? Not sure how much of each macronutrient you need?

Yes, seems hard enough to restrict carbohydrate consumption on a regular ketogenic diet, so how are you supposed to limit them on a vegan keto diet? Let’s start with a simple list of high-carb foods that you shouldn’t include in your diet at all.

Do Not Eat

  • Grains – wheat, corn, rice, cereal, etc.
  • Legumes — lentils, black beans, peas, etc.
  • Sugar – honey, agave, maple syrup, etc.
  • Fruit – apples, bananas, oranges, etc.
  • Tubers – potato, yams, etc.

Now let’s look at low-carb vegan-friendly foods that you can eat on a vegan keto diet:

Let your food be your Medicine! ~Hippocrates

Do Eat

  • Mushrooms — shiitake, king oyster, lion’s mane, etc.
  • Leafy greens – spinach, kale, etc.
  • Above ground vegetables – broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, etc.
  • High fat “dairy” – unsweetened coconut-based yogurt, coconut cream, vegan cheeses, etc.
  • Nuts and seeds – pistachios, almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etc.
  • Avocado and berries – raspberries, blackberries, and other low glycemic impact berries
  • Fermented foods — Natto, sauerkraut, kim chi, etc.
  • Sea vegetables — dulse, bladderwack, kelp, etc.
  • Sweeteners – stevia, erythritol, monk fruit, and other low-carb sweeteners
  • Other fats – coconut oil, olive oil, MCT oil, red palm oil, etc.

How to Eat Enough Fat on A Vegan Keto Diet

Even though you can’t eat eggs, meat, butter, or dairy, you will still have an abundance of fat sources on the vegan ketogenic diet.

Here’s a brief list of the oils you can use and what you can use them for:

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is an excellent oil for fat bombs, deserts, and cooking and baking at temperatures under 350 degrees Fahrenheit. It also provides you with long chain and medium chain saturated fatty acids that are the ideal fuel sources for keto dieters.

Olive Oil

This oil is mostly made of different fats than coconut oil, and it has plenty of positive health effects as well. You can use it to enhance the flavor and fat content of the many dishes that you’ll find later in this article. Just make sure you cook with olive oil at a temperature that is below 405 degrees Fahrenheit, so it doesn’t oxidize and become less healthy.

Avocado Oil

Avocado oil contains more healthy monounsaturated fats than any other commonly used oils. It also has the highest smoke point of any other cooking oil (at 520 degrees Fahrenheit), which makes it perfect for cooking, baking, and deep frying.

Red Palm Oil

Red palm oil is an incredible source of Vitamins A and E. It has a mild carrot-like flavor, with a rich, buttery texture, and a slightly higher smoke point than olive oil and coconut oil. All of this makes it the perfect oil to prepare your vegan meats with and roast your nuts and seeds in.

MCT Oil

This oil is commonly derived from coconut oil and palm oil. It contains medium chain triglycerides, which are saturated fatty acids that skip normal fat digestion and go right to the liver where they are converted into ketones for fuel. If you need an energy boost, add this flavorless oil to your salads, sauces, fat bombs, and hot drinks like coffee or tea.

Although these aren’t all the vegan oils you can consume, the oils listed deserve special mention because of their versatility and health benefits. However, you don’t have to get all of your fat from vegan oils. You can get extra fat — along with essential vitamins and minerals — by adding these fatty foods to your vegan ketogenic diet as well:

Avocado

High in monounsaturated fat, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, the avocado is the perfect addition to any vegan keto meal. You can also make a keto-friendly vegan chocolate mousse dessert by blending avocado together with cacao powder, vanilla extract, and a low-calorie sweetener of your choice — delicious.

Nuts

Nuts are a healthy addition to any diet, and they are filled with different types of essential fats. I recommend macadamia nuts and cashews because they have the highest amount of healthy monounsaturated fats and the lowest amount of inflammatory omega 6 fats.  Make sure, however, that you are aware of how many carbs are in the nuts you are consuming while you are on the vegan ketogenic diet.

Seeds

Pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, etc. are another high-fat, healthy addition to the vegan ketogenic diet. They do, however, contain higher levels of inflammatory omega-6 fats, so don’t rely on them as a dietary fat staple.

Many nuts and seeds are packed with protein, as well as essential vitamins and minerals.

The nuts and seeds with the most protein (per 100 grams) are:

  • Pumpkin seeds with ~30 grams of protein
  • Pistachios with ~21 grams
  • Almonds with ~21 grams
  • Sunflower seeds with ~19 grams
  • Flaxseeds with ~ 18 grams

However, don’t let these numbers fool you. You must consider the carb content of these nuts and seeds as well.

  • Pumpkin seeds have 54 grams of total carbs per 100 grams
  • Pistachios have 28 grams of total carbs per 100 grams
  • Almonds have 22 grams of total carbs per 100 grams
  • Sunflower seeds have 20 grams of total carbs per 100 grams
  • Flaxseeds have 29 grams of total carbs per 100 grams

Vegan Dairy Substitutes

The vegan alternatives I mentioned above tend to be high in fat as well. Make sure you check how many carbs are in each serving of your vegan dairy alternative. Many of the vegan products will have unexpected sources of carbohydrates.

With these plant-based oils and fat-packed plant foods, you will have no problem getting the fats you need on the vegan ketogenic diet. The next macronutrient we need to cover — and arguably the most difficult to get enough of on the vegan diet — is protein.

Think of all of the people counting on you to be the best version of yourself!

The Takeaway — What To Eat on the Vegan Ketogenic Diet

It is easier than ever before to maintain a vegan ketogenic lifestyle. There are plenty of vegan dairy and egg alternatives available that will allow you veganize most keto recipes.

Getting enough fat and protein on the vegan ketogenic diet shouldn’t be a problem either. Plant-based oils like coconut oil, avocado oil, MCT oil, and olive oil, as well as avocados, nuts, and seeds will cover all of your fat needs. Regarding protein intake, make sure you have a vegan meat alternative, vegan protein powder, or high protein nuts and seeds with each meal.

3.Connect your Mind, Body, & Spirit with something greater than yourself.

Mind-Body Connection. Get very Still to “hear” what your Body is communicating. “Hear” your wellness too!
Get very good at reprograming your wellness! Connect to something greater than yourself God, Earth, Allah, or the Universe.

Cancer can be a landmine of emotional, financial, and physical stress. From the moment a patient is given a cancer diagnosis, there is fear of the unknown and worry about what happens next.

mind

Keeping the mind and spirit at peace is crucial to fighting cancer. Your mind has a very powerful influence over your physical self.

Does this sound like “pseudo-science” to you? The medical community thought so for many decades. Heck, so did I for a long while! However, new research is finding a measurable connection between your thoughts and healing.

The Fascination of the Placebo Effect

Consider the well-known “placebo effect” that continues to baffle scientists in many different fields. Clinical trials are split into groups in order to test research. One group is given the drug or treatment but the other is not. The latter group is considered the control group.

All the participants are told they are receiving the same drug or treatment – in the form of a pill, a shot, a drink, or some other modality – but usually half are actually receiving a placebo. It looks or feels like the “real” drug but it contains nothing that can in any way influence their health.

The placebo effect, as the doctors call it, is when a patient believes so strongly that the treatment will make them well, that he/she exhibits physical changes as if they are receiving the same drug as everyone else.

When the placebo group was given a pill, thought to be a stimulant, their pulse and blood pressure increased and they had better reflex time. Other participants on a placebo for pain management showed improvement in chronic pain due to an increase in endorphins – the body’s natural pain reliever.

In some cases patients were told they were taking a placebo and still manifested improvements in their depression, sleep disorders, digestive problems, and menopause symptoms.

cancer

The Mind-Body Connection

The mind-body connection is real. Researchers believe that patients with high expectations for getting better, release biological chemicals to simulate the effect, while altering specific regions of the brain to achieve the believed results.wellness

Your body has the ability to mimic the effects of antidepressants, anti-inflammatory drugs, painkillers, and asthma medication. The science behind this phenomenon may be largely unknown but that doesn’t  invalidate it.

The truth is, scientists are beginning to understand how the brain communicates with the body on the cellular level. An understanding of the cellular steps has blossomed since Sir John Vane won his Nobel Prize in 1982. In fact, four additional Nobel Prizes have been given in the last decade for discoveries about cell communication within the body.

The good news is that deep breathing exercises and oxygenating aerobic exercises have proven to be an effective method for reducing stress and building the immune system. Bristol University reviewed 52 worldwide studies and concluded that people who incorporated daily exercise routines developed fewer cancers and those with cancer survived longer. Exercise also produces “happy hormones” called endorphins, which neutralize the stressful ones.

Thermography

Thermography

“It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.
I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do.”

~Leonardo da Vinci/Quotes

We must do better with our “knowing” in the medical field!  In detecting, thermography can detect injury and disease-causing inflammation, which has already been applied to thoroughbred racehorses. In 2010 a BioCytonics newsletter expounded that thermography could accurately detect a pregancy from day 1 of conception, a far more advanced pregnancy detection than anything we’ve seen yet. It can also expose some potential birth defects to predict potentially fatal premature delivery, allowing doctors the chance for early treatment, and otherwise ill-fated preemie babies another chance at life. Dr. Alan Smith of the Melbourne School of Engineering, commented, “I continue to be amazed at the scope of this technology and how it is being used. I believe thermography has a role to play in industry, defence and even in medicine.”

Dr. Mercola, the prolific health news authors and veteran osteopathic physician, promotes thermography as a “revolutionary,” non-invasive means of screening for breast cancer. [3Dr. Christiane Northrup, also recommended it on national TV on Oprah. Numerous doctors and studies offer evidence and support of thermography for early detection of breast cancer instead ofmammograms.

The Health Risks of Mammography

Many proponents of thermography and other non- or less invasive methods of breast cancer screenings believe the heat against heat-imaging is very obviously an issue of economics. Dr. Johnnie Ham MD OBGYN and former Lieutenant Colonel of the US Army Medical Corps had no problem making a blanket statement in his recent article Mammography: Are There Pros, or is it Just a Con?

“Breast cancer has become big business, starting with the multi-billion dollar goliath, mammography.”

But it’s not just big business. It turns out the industry-standard poses serious health risks to the women who’ve trusted it.

1. Radiation Increases Cancer Risk

Dr. Mercola has written prolifically about both the inadequacies and the hazards of mammograms, but he’s only one voice joining a worldwide choir calling mammograms a big-business cash cow, and a disease-prevention failure. Earlier this year a Brazilian doctor published the article, The Breast Cancer Prevention – avoid regular mammograms! He warns that the test exposes a woman’s body to “1,000 times greater than a chest x-ray,” and after five years, he continues, “it is as if the woman’s body received radiation such as the atomic bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki at approximately 1600 meters (one mile) away from the epicenter!”

CNN Health reported in 2011 on a key report, Breast Cancer and the Environment, which named mammograms as an environmental factor that increases the risk of breast cancer.

The Cochrane Database Review (CDR), produced by the Cochrane Collaboration, is represented by more than 100 nations and internationally respected for information integrity, not to mention poking at the industrializing of biomedical research and corruption of scientific literature. A 2009 CDR made a controversial claim concerning mammograms, asserting that women ought to be informed of both “benefits and harms” when offered the option of mammogram screening. Two years later the British Medical Journal (BMJ) confirmed it with their article, Possible net harms of breast cancer screening:

“This analysis supports the [CDR] claim that the introduction of breast cancer screening might have caused net harm for up to 10 years after the start of screening.”

That is, it “might” do more harm than good. Dr. Samuel Epstein, a top cancer expert who is also Chairman of the Cancer Prevention Coalition was quoted,

“the premenopausal breast is highly sensitive to radiation…[resulting in] a cumulative 10 percent increased risk for each breast over a decade’s screening.”

Rather than decreasing risk, there is 20% increased risk of developing the disease by regularly undergoing mammograms, as prescribed. Scratching your head yet?

2. Breast Compression Increases Risk of Spreading Malignant Cells

Further, the mammogram invasively compresses the breast. This trauma to the breast, writes Mercola, may “rupture cysts that can disseminate invasive cancer cells.”=Epstein backs this concern:

Since 1928, physicians have been warned to handle “cancerous breasts with care — for fear of accidentally disseminating cells” and spreading the cancer. Nevertheless, mammography entails tight and often painful breast compression, particularly in pre-menopausal women, which could lead to distant and lethal spread of malignant cells by rupturing small blood vessels in or around small undetected breast cancers.

3. Over-diagnosis Poses Unnecessary Long-Term Risks

80-85% of all breast lumps are benign, ie NON-cancerous, yet the current screening practices have led to 30% over-diagnosis and overtreatment (CDR), including unnecessary “preventive” double mastectomies, considered by not a few cancer experts to be tragic. Science News Magazine has reported that lumpectomies can actually “spur tumor growth,” and most of the time they’re unnecessary.

Perhaps it would be worth it if there were no better way to detect the disease and save lives. But research shows that mammography has had almost no impact on the rate of breast cancer deaths and, despite resistance from the FDA and other interested parties, many say there is a better way.

Thermography & Early Pre-Cancer Treatment

In addition to self and clinical breast exams, ultrasound and MRI as options, a growing number of healthcare professionals are now offering their patients thermographic screening. This form of testing will not only reveal a tumor, but it will expose chronic inflammation in the breast before it develops into cancer. A 2008 study of the method concluded that thermography has a 97% sensitivity in detecting malignant tumors. In the study, thermography detected 58 out of 60 malignancies, a stunning improvement from the reported 20% accuracy of mammograms.

Gaea Powell is a Board Certified Medical Thermographer who lost her 49 year old mother to breast cancer in 1991. She explains that thermography can detect the early signs of cancer “8-10 years earlier than a mammography or physical exam.”

Any area in the breast with high inflammation is considered literally and figuratively a “hot spot,” and will need to be monitored. If your doctor notes suspicious activity, such as continually rising temperature/inflammation or increasing areas of inflammation, they can begin early treatment.

Powell clarifies that thermography doesn’t diagnose cancer, but she reports that with pre-cancer detection and early treatment she’s “seen results in three to five months, where [the inflammation] is eliminated…”

So with thermography, we’re no longer looking for a developed or growing cancer, but inflammation. And at this early stage the methods of treatment are no longer radiation therapy, toxic drugs or invasive surgeries but alternative and nutritional therapies such as:

  • lymphatic draining by massage,
  • optimizing vitamin D and vitamin K2,
  • balancing hormone levels,
  • getting plenty of omega-3s,
  • exercise,
  • stress reduction and eliminating chronic stress,
  • eating cancer-fighting foods and spices such as curcumin,
  • and dramatically reducing intake of fructose, sugar, and refined processed foods, which are known cancer breeders.

Proponents believe that when caught this early, cancer can be stopped in its tracks. And before it gains any stronghold in your cells you can reprogram your body from creating cancer, to promoting vibrant health by empowering your very own, innate, natural defenses.

Ways to stop breast cancer tumors from growing and spreading

  1. SEATTLE, March 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Scientists at the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason (BRI) have made a discovery that opens the door to a potentially game-changing way to stop breast cancer tumors from growing and spreading.

The researchers – Emma L. Kuan, PhD, and Steven F. Ziegler, PhD – pinpointed how a protein called thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) helps breast cancer tumors survive and grow. Even more significant, the researchers showed that blocking TSLP in model systems can significantly inhibit the growth of breast tumors and halt metastasis to the lungs. The study was published in the latest issue of Nature Immunology.

“Breast cancer becomes especially dangerous once it spreads to other parts of the body,” Dr. Kuan says, “Our work suggests that blocking TSLP could prevent this from happening and potentially save the lives of women worldwide.”

How TSLP helps tumors

Researchers had previously found elevated TSLP levels in many different types of tumors, but its role in tumor biology was unclear. Drs. Kuan and Ziegler solved this mystery by using preclinical models to investigate what happens to breast cancer tumors when TSLP is taken away.

Their research revealed that the tumors didn’t grow nearly as large – or metastasize nearly as much – when they didn’t have access to TSLP. Breast cancer cells also died at a much higher rate in tumors without TSLP, compared to tumors where TSLP was present.

Hijacking immune cells

Once the researchers determined that TSLP was critical, they set out to uncover how it worked – and became the first to discover that tumors turn immune cells into accomplices that express TSLP.  The tumors do this by expressing another factor, called IL-1a that draws immune cells into the tumor and induces them to produce TSLP.  This TSLP is essential to the survival of the tumor, because it induces the tumor cells to express another protein called BCL-2. This protein protects the tumors from death.

Importantly, the researchers found that the same cells that make TSLP in the models also make TSLP in human breast cancer patients, and human breast tumor cells respond to TSLP in the same way.

“BCL-2 is like a magic potion that keeps cancer cells alive when they’re supposed to die,” Dr. Ziegler says, “To brew up that potion, the tumors need TSLP from an outside source – so they enlist specialized cells, attracted to the tumor by IL-1a, to make it for them.”

Stopping tumor growth

When Drs. Kuan and Ziegler used an antibody to block TSLP, it stopped tumors in their tracks – even when they had already started growing. Within two weeks, the tumors had shrunk significantly, more of their cells were dying and they had stopped spreading to the lungs. This suggests that anti-TSLP therapy could work in human patients with existing tumors.

“Blocking TSLP could potentially contain not just breast cancer, but many other tumors that have elevated TSLP – including pancreatic cancer, cervical cancer and multiple myeloma,” Dr. Kuan says.

Clinical trials of this strategy could be launched for cancer patients in the relatively near future. A drug that blocks TSLP has already been developed, and initial trials have shown that it’s safe in patients with asthma.

“We’re currently working on a better way to block only the TSLP that helps tumors,” Dr. Kuan says, “And we are really hopeful that this could become a viable strategy for containing tumors long-term, without interfering with TSLP in other healthy cells.”

TSLP: From allergic disease to cancer

TSLP is a novel cytokine that the Ziegler Lab first showed is involved in initiating the inflammatory cascade that leads to the development of asthma and other allergic diseases.  It is normally expressed in epithelial cells at barrier surfaces in the lungs, skin and gut.  When it was shown that increased TSLP is found in breast and pancreatic tumors, and that increased levels are correlated with negative patient outcome, the laboratory began investigating TSLP in cancer models.
