For 2023, I challenge you to empower one woman in your neighborhood!
Choose one woman and let her unfold with grace with your consistent weekly attention!

A recent YouGov Survey conducted on behalf of the NEXTDOOR app stated 50% of Americans feel they can rely more on their neighbors and local community when compared with before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Believe it or not, 72% of Americans have made it more of a priority to support local businesses, and 61% now feel it’s more important to build connections in the neighborhood than outside their community.
Research also shows that a majority of people (58%) have a renewed appreciation of their neighborhood, and believe it will continue going forward.
Would moving “forward” be empowering every woman in your neighborhood whether you are a she/her, they/them, or he/him.
Imagine what could happen for your neighborhood if you empowered a woman within it for creating a ripple effect of safety!
Whether it’s by picking up groceries for an immunocompromised grandmother, offering childcare to a harried single mom, or sharing trusted information and recommendations — like which library has the best events — what could happen when you show up for one another and are happy to do so.
Your gestures may seem small to you and yet they can spark positive change!
Leo Buscaglia, author of the book LOVE.
“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”
You will make the impact you have always wanted to make in the world creating a legacy for your beautiful community!
Statistically, women reinvest much more of their incomes into their families to directly benefit their children according to Clinton Global Initiative. Because women more commonly hold roles within the household, women are often responsible for funding their children’s educations, preparing healthy food, and accessing medical care for their kids. Women are driving and equipping the next generation—the generation that might break free from extreme situations.
How to Empower a Woman – Ask her great Questions
A woman you have seen from a distance maybe or a woman in your community that seems alone.
Begin by telling her, “I am looking to help build the next generation, I see you and believe in you. Would you be willing for me to call you once a week and remind you of how great I think you are?”
Or you could begin by asking one woman, “What is your dream for your future?” Almost every woman will have a unique answer! Just getting her eyes to sparkle will have a ripple effect!
Listening to her answer you may find family is her top priority—and women are working to ensure their families’ futures.
You may find her answer is something completely different too! Some may say it is becoming healthier or have more education. Just find the beauty in her answer. Let her see herself through your generous view of her world!
Women building the next generation is the intrinsic—and measured—drive to pay it forward. It is the hidden value of investing in women. It’s why organizations get so excited about policies and initiatives targeting women.
Because they know that when you empower a woman, you empower a family. You unlock a wave of potential that will have a multiplying, generational legacy.
Ask her, “What could someone do to give you more time to work on your dreams?”
Ask her, “Can I call you weekly to ask you questions, to connect with you?”
Some women may say no. One woman will say yes. Then call her weekly and ask her these questions or questions you feel will build her self-esteem!
